Voice Instruction

Melissa teaches voice lessons to a wide variety of ages and ability levels. Whether the student is taking voice lessons for a specific goal, such as to audition for a musical or just wants to gain confidence in their singing abilities, Melissa tailors lessons to fit the needs and goals of each student and teaches many styles of singing including classical, musical theater, and popular styles.

Melissa gives each student a well rounded education and fosters music appreciation by introducing students to new repertoire. Along with teaching a healthy technique and helping her students with stage presence, she also teaches music theory and sight-singing upon request. All of her students have the option of performing in studio recitals to practice their craft. It is one of Melissa’s greatest joys to share her knowledge and passion of music with others.  It is not only her goal to help students to learn a reliable technique but also to help them find their unique voice and expression through music.

Melissa’s education includes a Master’s Degree from Chicago College of Performing Arts and a Bachelor’s Degree from The Boston Conservatory at Berklee College of Music both in Vocal Performance. Melissa has over 20 years of performance experience as a classical singer. Melissa has teaching studios in both Concord and Nashua, NH. She also offers virtual lessons over Zoom.  Melissa is a member of the National Association for Teachers of Singing.

What students are saying:

“Melissa is a wonderful teacher whose knowledge of voice and voice instruction is wide and deep. Also she is a fun, forgiving and generous person. When I started taking voice lessons with Melissa I had not had any formal voice training and was straining to hit moderately high notes in my semi-professional role as lead singer in a blues and R&B band.  With Melissa's help I was able to find a new appreciation of my voice and what I could do with it.  She explained the mechanisms of vocal production and gave me techniques to overcome tensions in the muscles surrounding the larynx, all while continually encouraging and praising my progress.  This last was important in changing my regard of my own voice from negative to the grudging admission that I was indeed a singer and that I was capable of sounding good.  I will always be grateful to Melissa for her help and will continue to study with her in the future when possible.”

“We are so fortunate to have found Melissa, who is an incredibly gifted voice instructor. I hadn't thought about getting voice lessons for my children until meeting her. Her lessons are both fun and engaging. Since starting with her, not only has their signing improved but so has their articulation and public speaking confidence. Even during COVID, we were able to have lessons virtually (I was initially reluctant about them singing to a computer but it turned out to be a great experience!). We plan to continue our lessons with Melissa indefinitely. Thank you, Melissa!”

“Melissa is a fantastic vocal instructor. Her patience and attention to detail really aided in my development as a vocalist. She also helped curb bad habits that I know will help keep my voice strong and healthy. With her teaching I have felt more relaxed and confident in the way I sing. Without her I don’t know if I’d ever feel comfortable singing in public. She even had me prepared for my first performance within 6 weeks, which, going from zero experience, is an impressive feat. I cannot recommend her enough!”

“Melissa is an amazing vocal teacher. Both of my daughters have had many voice instructors, and Melissa was their favorite! Melissa genuinely cares about her students, takes extra time to get to know them and challenges her students with each lesson.”

"Melissa is the epitome of a student-centered instructor. She is truly invested in her students’ lives, interests and goals as they pertain to both music and their other activities. This special connection that she creates in addition to her years of experience as an educator and performer help her students to learn and grow exponentially. Melissa's organizational skills and clear communication make working with her easy for both parents and students alike."
